Re-Opening Update: Middle School and High School

Monday February 7th

First we would like to thank everyone for their patience and support. We know that there have been many questions and lots of anticipation for more information regarding our reopening plans for the middle school and high school. We have looked at several options, toured facilities, searched real estate listings, etc. It has taken some time as there are many logistics involved in locating space to accommodate 122 students for an extended period of time. In this email, we will provide information on our reopening, some instructions and will do our best to let you know what to expect. Please see the flyer below to find directions for drop off and pick up. You can click here to see a map with directions.

To begin with, the building has undergone an address change in the past so depending on who you ask, the address is different. Officially the address is 704 W. 23rd St, Building H, Panama City, FL 32405. If you google this address, the address pin should fall on the smaller building right next to ours. Regardless, please use the map provided to find your way to our building.

Drop Off and Pick Up: If you are dropping your student off or picking your student up, please do not use the parking lot in front of the building unless you need to conduct business inside. There is a gravel area next to the parking lot that we will use for drop off and pick up. This area will be marked with a sign and directions. Please note the drop off and pick up area shown on the map. When dropping off or picking up, please pull all the way forward before stopping. When you pull in, please leave enough space for cars to exit the drop off and pick up area.

School will continue with the same hours as before. The after-school program will be offered as usual and parents will need to park and come inside to pick up their child. We will conduct tutoring as we have in the past Pickup after tutoring will take place in the drop off/pick up area.

Students will not have access to a vending machine. Over time we may have to opportunity to provide access to soft drinks and snacks, however, that is not a priority at this time.

Lunches will occur as they normally do. There is no change in the closed campus policy. Students will not be permitted to leave school grounds for lunch.

With the exception of the adjustments to daily routines required from being in a new space, all classes will continue as they were and the school schedules will remain the same. There will be some adjustments to the holiday calendar, however, spring break will occur as previously scheduled.

We will spend the first week or so working out the challenges of making such a much over a short period of time but please continue to be patient as we will find our groove soon enough and continue right along. Please feel free to email us with any questions. Hopefully we will have the answers, if not, we will find them.

Thanks again for your patience and support!

Kaleidoscope School of Discovery is a State of Florida registered K-12 private school serving students facing challenges with their learning abilities. All students attending Kaleidoscope have struggled academically. At kaleidoscope, we strive to address these academic challenges with flexible and individualized approaches. More than anything, we are a family here at Kaleidoscope and care about the students we serve and their families. In order to improve student success, several accommodations and supports are utilized as a part of our daily routine. Classroom instruction incorporates careful curriculum selection, differentiated instruction, modified pace and other variations to traditional approaches.

Students have access to after-school tutorial services as needed.  The teachers are the providers of these tutorial services for the students they teach.  This overcomes traditional barriers to tutoring by having the tutoring provided by the student's actual classroom instructor.  After-school tutoring is a service provided at no cost to the student.  In addition to addressing academic needs of our students, we also seek to improve other skill areas important to daily life.  We work with students in developing problem solving skills, interpersonal relationship skills and other skills vital in developing well-rounded individuals.
